A stay at the Hilton Singapore

We decided to extend our stay in Singapore for an extra day and without hesitation the Hilton was the decision as it's situated in a fantastic position for work and pleasure and was perfectly suitable for my shopping needs and desire.

Upon entering the hotel check in was a breeze and we were instantly recognised as a Diamond member, with a room upgrade to an executive room as well as a complimentary 5pm check out we were whisked up the elevators and shown to our room by Linda where our luggage was neatly lined up.

Treated like a King at the Parkroyale Singapore

I booked a Deluxe Room as currency rates were very good equalling to $90AUD per night and with a Platinum status which I obtained for free at the beginning of the year meant I was guaranteed a room upgrade to the next room category.

Our lovely lady who's flying us to Singapore.

We decided to catch a taxi to the airport and arrived at 08:10 and made our way to the SIA check in area. Virgin Australia elites are entitled to use the Business class lane to check in and after 3 minutes of waiting we were ushered to the First class checkin desk.

A night in the Wentworth

The price for a Classic Room was $160AUD which was a pretty decent price for a 5 star hotel as it was the lowest I've seen on offer as usually the rooms at Sofitel are above $200.

I was greeted by the reservations Supervisor Paul and he proceeded to ask for my details and general small talk. I booked under the F&F rate equalling to $225 per night which caught him by surprise as he informed me I got a very good deal by booking in advanced as room rates were above $350 over the nights we were staying there. Paul asked if I had booked under the rate before and I told him it was my first time, he smiled and handed my my room keys.

QT Gold Coast Hotel

QT Gold Coast Hotel
7 Staghorn Ave  Surfers Paradise QLD 4217

Tuesday 8th January - Sunday 13th January

Check in time 2:00pm

Check out time 12:00pm

Room QT King Ocean View - Room 2013.
Room Amenities Uspa

I've previously stayed at the hotel in its former days when it was still operating as the GCI International and after its rebranding to the quirky QT I thought why not test out what QT has on offer since we got 10% discount on room types due to being Priority Guest Reward members, what also topped off the offer was a 2 night weekend offer that included breakfast daily for 2 and a dinner reservation at Bazzar.

Hotel check in was a breeze at 5pm with the quirky staff who quickly processed our reservation, explained hotel parking as well as asking for the plastic card to hold for incidentals as well as asking for a bond. After a couple of minutes she handed my room keys and to my surprise we were in room 2013.

Hotel Reception, press the bell to the right for service.

As we entered our room our luggage was already sitting by the tv, the air conditioner was on and our "anniversary" gifts of macarons and a bottle of bubbly was awaiting by the table. The hotel has had a terrific facelift with a nice and bright interior. The king size bed was comfy enough for the two of us even though the partner still goes by the "why are we at a nice place when we won't be staying in room for the majority of the time".

Free lemonade from QT, just dial ex 4 from the cordless in room phone

Our very lovely macaron's and champagne from QT

Something unrelated to the reservation at the QT, I'm the one in the relationship who makes all bookings from flights to hotels! After discussing some points and destinations with the other half of course! He just provides the $$$...... kidding! ;P

Facilities available to guests include a Pool which stays open until 9 - 10pm, according to one of the concierge team members... I've found myself using the pool at 1am... so i guess guests can use the pool at their discretion when ever they like. A day spa is also available to hotel guests if they fancy being pampered as well as unique facilities such as hiring free bikes and mopeds. Concierge service depends on the team member themselves, I happen to find that the best service came from a blond average and charming team member in his blue work attire, I forgot to grab his name though!

On my way down to the pool in one of the robes... if you find that robe in your suitcase, it'll cost you $110.

A business centre is also available on the first floor but due to a large conference/ event that happened to be going on in the hotel, the business centre was used as a office.

A intimacy kit is also available in room for those who need it.
The elevator that takes you down to the parking garage takes it's sweet ass time depending on occupants using it, the maximum time we've waited for the elevator was 8 minutes.

One of the 4 pictures found in the elevators, this happened to be the picture that creeps me out when the doors open.

Bazzar for breakfast as well as dinner include's a wide variety of different menu items as well as condiments and different stations catering to a wide range of guests. There are no signs or labels describing the food.. the concept of Bazzar is a interaction market place, so for the extroverts who don't want to socialize with anyone should man up and ask the chef's what they will be digesting, or just taste the menu items to your discretion.

Check out could of been handled better, the staff member who I got looked pretty new and was still finding his way around check outs. When we check in, the hotel holds the amount payable on your card as a guarantee, on check out the hotel will charge the accommodation rate on top of the guarantee, in our case $1060 was held on check in, on check out another $1060 will be charged ontop of that.

I asked why they couldn't just authorise the amount they charge on check in, after some mumbling from the staff member, a supervisor came out and explained it was hotel policy. The supervisor could see me frustrated so we got complimentary wi-fi used through out our stay.

The  funds get released in aprrox 4 - 5 days, so if your strapped on cash or need your credit card, make sure you have a back up card or pay in cash on check in. I also got handed my priority guest rewards card on check out and some benefits of the program include

10% off best available rates.
20% off food and drink at hotel restaurants, excluding breakfast - Platinum members recieve 50%
Welcoming drinks (we assumed it was the lemonade)
Priority check in (didn't see it offered at QT)
50% off internet

Hotel's participating in the program are

Rydges Hotels & Resorts
QT Hotels & Resorts
Art Series Hotels
Reef House

Overall I would happily return to the QT Gold coast if I find myself back in the Surfers vicinity, staff could undergo further training to further enhance guest experiences.
