I was greeted by the reservations Supervisor Paul and he proceeded to ask for my details and general small talk. I booked under the F&F rate equalling to $225 per night which caught him by surprise as he informed me I got a very good deal by booking in advanced as room rates were above $350 over the nights we were staying there. Paul asked if I had booked under the rate before and I told him it was my first time, he smiled and handed my my room keys.

The elevators were quite slow for a 5 star hotel, it took around 3 minutes from Lobby to level 15. The room was spotless, modern and smelt fresh.  The king size bed and pillows were very comfortable meaning plenty of room for me to roll around as well as accommodate the other half. The air conditioning vents were quiet, just the way I liked and thats how they should be.

I've always been and will be a fan of hotels with plenty of lighting, I'm not fond of dark hotels with little to nothing lights in the room, much to my pleasure there was plenty of natural light coming in from the window as well as plenty of lamps around the room, house lights were bright as well. I also like the automatic light blocking blinds that were featured, with the flick of a switch can be found to the right of the bed. Another of my favorite feature of the Intercontinental is the turn down service that had to be requested before 6pm.

Other features of the room and to my liking was the work desk and its comfy chair with a very generous sized desk and 4 power points.  If my mind serves me right there was a total of 9 power points in the room, you can fit 2 15 inch mac books comfortably next to each other and still have ample room for a notebook to scribble things down.

Opposite the bed is a nice couch/ daybed which was very comfortable, I didn't find the need to use it much as I had the bed so the couch was a place for our shopping and various item's of clothing. Underneath the window is another couch /rest area where you can sit and gaze at the museum of Sydney and the streets below.

View of The Harbour Bridge and Opera House from Level 31.

Bathroom amenities were products of Elemis, the bathroom itself was nice, bright and respectable, nice feature of the built in speaker that would sound whatever was on tv, gave myself a shock when I was showering at midnight and my partner decided to watch a horror movie!

The little window which gives you access into the room is quite a nice touch.. great to catch the news if your shaving..... or showering without the shower curtain!

Housekeeping did a fantastic job at maintaining the room, I came back the following day and thought I walked into a brand new room. The lovely attendant also arranged my toiletries in the bathroom from tallest to shortest, she even gave my shaver a rinse... she got a pretty good tip when we left too!

Other features of the hotel included level 31, which houses a pool and spa, club Intercontinental, a 24 hour gym and a function room. For after hour use of the gym guest's need to contact the lobby prior to use. The Intercontinental Sydney is indeed a 5 star property which focus' their attention and detail for their guests. The Intercontinental well placed, the walking distance to Circular Quay only takes 5 minutes for access to the train station or a short cab to the CBD by taxi will cost you a mere $10.
